Mario Cuomos decision to never run for president was a loss for our nation. The son of Italian immigrants, he was a first class act and a decent human being who truly cared about the common people. A brilliantly successful public figure, he nevertheless gave a damn for those many millions of invisible Americans who are without money, influence and power. Even as a now lifeless Democratic politician, Mario Cuomos spirit and memory will continue to tower over todays mediocre politicians of both major parties that we continue to live and suffer with.
