Marion Ravenwood.....in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. There are aspects of Marion Ravenwood that are troubling. After all, she does have to get rescued by Indiana Jones a lot. However, the bulk of Raiders of the Lost Ark features Karen Allen bucking the usual female sidekick trends. We meet her when she demolishes a man twice her size in a drinking contest. She demands to accompany Indiana on his adventure. She refuses to fall for Belloqs charms. Shes an active participant in everything Indy does and acts as a valuable ally. In other words, shes the exact opposite of Kate Capshaws character in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. What a step back that was!
