Mark Strom’s LEAD WITH WISDOM is poetry, exquisitely - TopicsExpress

Mark Strom’s LEAD WITH WISDOM is poetry, exquisitely beautiful—leadership handbook, informative, experiential, grounded, of the first rank—and wisdom literature, sifted and synthesized with great care—fully, all at once. If it is possible for a book to be gorgeous, soaring, elegant and profound, packed with hard business contents of models, diagrams, strategies, and organizational structuring, then this is the most beautiful of them all. As I read LEAD WITH WISDOM, these words kept surfacing: poignant, elegant, substantive, profound, simple. It was an added pleasure and joy to read this LEAD WITH WISDOM in Cambodia at a time when the issue of leadership is so tactilely missing and wisdom is a bygone, forgotten vocabulary. Unpacking each phrase in this stark contrast of deficit, LEAD WITH WISDOM came to life with power, richness, immediacy, delight. Each word soars and came to be from leisure, active thinking, and comprehensive, in-depth research, with sharp, fierce intent of wanting to understand, to know. The gorgeous language is not superfluous but thoughtful processing, based on broad reading, research, and brilliance. This LEAD WITH WISDOM cannot be rushed. The reader without act of will savor and linger; the process cannot be hurried and the reader soon realizes she does not want to for she is enjoying the process of savoring and deepening. In one sense, the process of reading is akin to enjoying a very good glass of red wine, of being fully present to the taste, of savoring each sip. I will revisit LEAD WITH WISDOM time and again, and it easily will be my Wisdom/Leadership bible.
