Mark Tyson Caps Off 2014 Season On Confident Note Berwick, PA (10/28/14)- Mark Tyson of Hatboro, PA has had a racing season that’s been absolutely filled with trials and tribulations. From battling health issues most of the season, following by the closing of his home track half way through the year, he kept his head held high and was determined to return to the wheel of his #22 FireHouse Chevy Impala. Tyson was able to make a comeback later in the year and last Saturday night competed in the annual “OctoberFast” event at Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, PA. Tyson began the afternoon with a practice session and he wasn’t totally happy with his car, which forced him to make a few slight adjustments. The changes helped a lot and he had a good run in his qualifier. He began the feature and started to work his way through the pack early on but a few drivers in front of him tangled and collected Tyson. After pitting for quick repairs, green flag racing resumed and again, Tyson started to make his way back, but that all ended on lap 27 when nearly the same scenario took place, but this time the air box on the car, which draws air to cool the radiator, got damaged and the engine temp started to climb, forcing Tyson to save the motor and end his night but not his outlook on the season. Despite getting collected in two on track incidents on lap 10 and lap 27 of Saturdays OctoberFast at Mahoning, the car was working well and I made a little more progress learning that track. There’s still a lot to learn here, but I still had a blast! Hats off to all of the Santees at Mahoning for putting on a fantastic show. Ill be back!, noted an ecstatic Tyson Monday evening. He continued, With it being a season of medical challenges and my home track closing, I was just glad to race one more time before the car goes on jack stands for the winter. Tyson was a little short with crew help over the weekend but noted that his Dirty South Posse teammates went above and beyond to help him out all season long, including Mitch Hawk, who drove two races for Tyson when his doctors wouldn’t give him the clearance to race at the time. Tyson wasn’t crewless by any means Saturday, as many offered to lend him a hand, if needed. Special thanks to my sons Tyler and Trent who helped me get the car ready and loaded up last week. Huge thanks also to Zane Zeiner, Michael Murray, and many others of the ZM team for their support and also Del Morgan and family for their help at the end of the night getting packed up. Although the 2014 season is in the books, Tyson is already excited about next season and said, I’m looking forward to April 2015 already. It cant come fast enough!
