Mark your calendar for the Because It Matters Presentation Thurs, Feb 5th 2:30pm. Dennis & Paula Lofstrom answered the call to go to Tanzania in 2002 to bring health care to under-served people. Along with Mary Ellen Kitundu, they founded the International Health Partners (IHP) to plan, finance, and build health care facilities there. There are 18 million children in Tanzania under the age of 14 and IHP is building a hospital to serve them. As a physician & nurse, Dennis & Paula have worked not only in the US but in Guatemala, Antarctica and Tanzania. Mary Ellen is a visionary and nursing instructor with experience in the US, Jamaica, and Tanzania. Medical care in developing countries is challenging and rewarding. When asked, “Why do you do this?” Paula responds, “My mother taught me that happiness is living a life that matters.” Because they are volunteers, your pledge is needed to support their ongoing mission. Please come to the presentation to learn about their efforts in Tanzania, about their ideas for the future of their project, and to see if there is anything you might do to help with their mission.Sometimes even the smallest of efforts can make a big difference.
