Mark your calendars and save the date! As an early bird event of the 2014 Rumba on the Lumber Festival, the paintings of our very own Matt Thompson will be featured in an exhibition at the Carolina Civic Center, 315 N. Chestnut St. in Lumberton! The exhibit is titled Rumba on the Lumber: The Race, The Art, The Town, and will run in the lobby areas of the theater from February 6th through April 12th. To kick off the exhibition, the Carolina Civic Center and the Robeson Road Runners will host a reception for the artist on February 6, 2014, beginning at 5:30 PM in the lobby. Not only will there be great art to view, but also wonderful food and beverages. The paintings in the exhibition are all inspired by the annual spring Rumba on the Lumber race and festival in downtown Lumberton. Each painting depicts a different scene from the event, with the earliest painting from 2005. Also in the exhibition will be the most current painting by Matt which will be featured on the race t-shirt for the 2014 festival. For more information, call 910/738-8179. So yall come!
