Marlon Brown, a 38-year-old man, was killed last May when a police officer in Florida ran into him with his car. Police pulled Brown over for not wearing his seatbelt, prompting their suspect to flee on foot. Officer James Harris sped onto the scene and chased Brown in his cruiser, as dash-cam video shows, running Brown over after he slipped and fell. Officer Harris was fired, but will not face any criminal charges. The city of Deland paid a settlement to Brown’s ex-wife, but the settlement also protected the city from any further action. RT’s Sam Sacks talks to Matthew Feeney, assistant editor of Reason and Reason 24/7 News, about whether or not Officer Harris should be facing vehicular manslaughter charges.
