Mary Ann found and shared this today; a photo of the headstone where my Great-great-great-grandfather Wesley Marken is buried in Andersonville National Cemetery in Georgia. On March 24th, 1864, Wesley left his wife and children at home in Wolfsville, Maryland, enlisting in the Union Army: Co. F, Maryland Volunteers, 1st Regiment, Potomoc Home Brigade Infantry. On June 29th, 1864, while patrolling the B&O Railroad in Virginia (now West Virginia,) his unit was ambushed at Duffield Station by the Confederate 43rd Battalion Virginia Cavalry (informally known as Mosbys Guerillas.) He was captured, taken to Georgia and imprisoned in the unsheltered stockade called Andersonville Prison. Among the thirteen thousand who fell mortally ill there, he died of dysentery on October 13th, 1864.
