Mary Jane’s Baby: Today must be the first of spring. Look at the sunshine and butterflies and other springy things. The air is sweet deep here in the belly of the beastly city. Even up here in Harlem, sometimes it looks pretty nice. But I’m going through these changes, So many changes. And like – I’m sorry if I sound so blue. Down at my job they had to send me home. With those jokers there I feel so alone. A shrink thinks I could be suffering with stress. My mom Mary Jane told me, Life could not always be happiness. And it’s really hard to get by these days. It’s getting hard to get by. Again, I’m sorry if I sound so blue. Girls are like men with their boyish tricks. And it’s hard to be real It’s another part of the mix.
