Mass props go out to Northeastern U, in terms of services for students with disabilities. I struggled through school academically, there was a disconnect between my intelligence and what grades were coming back. When I asked my college career services about resources it was several hundred dollars to get tested for autism, aspergers, dyslexia, and other stuff, so I had to tough it out. At like 39, the possibility of a mild aspergers maybe an issue which might have gone untapped. Aspergers people dont think in terms of written word they think in terms of pictures. Still not sure, bc i love to write but and Im not great at taking great photos. Our colleges have to be prepared for Special Needs and earning disabilities. So many brilliant people like Einstein (autistic), Whoopi (dyslexia) Robin Williams (bipolar) are sent packing from school bc they dont test well or they struggle with reading. For many of these kids, their mild illnesses might not have been picked up by middle or high schools and they start wondering in college. They need to move learning disabilities from career services to be covered under the students medical insurance. We cant afford to lose smart kids. The way I see it is if a student is doing poorly its not their fault, its ours.
