Massive protest in Yarmouk demands lifting of regime siege Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp, #Damascus, 19-01-2015: Residents of Yarmouk camp held a massive demonstration yesterday (Sunday January 18th, 2015) demanding an end to the crippling regime siege. The demonstrators demanded that the Assad regime and the various associated Tehran-backed militias and factions, including the PFLP-GC and Fateh al-Intifada, work with the PLO and other Palestinian bodies to lift the siege and allow the free entrance of food and medicine to the camp, which has now been under total siege for 16 months, with 171 residents documented as dying of starvation as a result to date. The protesters also demanded an end to the regimes bombardment and destruction, with over 50 percent of the camp completely destroyed to date, and expressed their anger at the PLO, the Palestinian Embassy in Damascus and other bodies representing Palestinians, which they accused of being partners in the siege and thus in the killing of Palestinian refugees in the camp. Demonstrators also spoke about the so-called Al Yarmouk Brigade which they said is being formed by the regime in coordination with the PLO with the intention of storming the camp, adding that they would defend the camp with their lives if necessary.
