Match Report - Monday Night League Seaside Misfits 5 - 4 Special Kebab For all other reports go to super6s.co.uk League leaders SPECIAL KEBAB and third placed SEASIDE MISFITS went head to head next in the top of the table clash and served up an end to end, nine goal Super6s classic! This was without a shadow of a doubt the game of the night! The Misfits went into this titanic clash four points behind Kebab so knew it was a must win game for them with regards to keeping their title dream alive and after emerging 5-4 winners they have set up an amazing title finale that could potentially see four teams in with a shout of being crowned champs on the final week! (depending on the results of the top three next week). You couldnt take your eyes of this match for a second (particularly in the second half). Special Kebab started the brightest. Wilks (Keb) tested Misfits keeper/ captain Daz with two early efforts that he was equal too before Rory (Keb) was desperately unlucky to see his shot hit the inside of the Misfits post after he raced through and found himself in a one on one situation with Daz. Graham (Mis) then brought out a good save from Kebab stand in keeper Dan who did well to get across to his right and tip away the shot, before he then kept out Misfits leading scorer Luke with another decent save! The save led to a quick Kebab counter attack which Wilks took full advantage of, losing the attentions of his marker on the right with a nice flick around him before going on to slot the ball past Daz to give the leaders the initiative. Camm (Keb) then fired over after Ben (Keb) set him up before the Misfits were then awarded a penalty, three minutes after Wilks opening goal. Luke stepped up and there was never really any doubt of the outcome as he calmly placed the ball perfectly into the bottom corner to make it 1-1. Misfits then enjoyed a strong spell, going close through Luke and man of the match Jake (Mis) who fired wide before Graham saw his shot kept out by Dans leg! Despite those dangerous Misfits moments it was Kebab who nearly restored their advantage when Rorys quick free-kick was met by Ben (Keb), but his curling effort from distance rattled the Misfits post! It was a big let off for the Misfits who struck back through Jake who saw his low shot from distance squirm through Dan to make it 2-1 two minutes before the break. The Misfits fans then found themselves in dreamland when they extended their lead to 3-1 just a minute later courtesy of a wonder goal from Ando (Mis), who picked up the ball just inside the Kebab half (after a good midfield challenge from Jordan (Mis) broke up a Kebab move). He then ran straight at the heart of the Kebab defence and skipped past two defenders who came to greet him before slotting the ball past Dan to make it 3-1! There was still time for Kebab captain Andy to draw a good save out of Daz and Ben (Keb) to curl a shot narrowly wide before the half-time whistle sounded. Seaside Misfits intentions were to obviously keep the ball and hold onto their two goal advantage, but Kebab had other ideas. Wilks fed the ball through to Rory on 28 minutes and he reduced the deficit to 3-2 when he clipped the ball past Daz. This goal sparked a frantic four minutes that witnessed both teams seemingly scoring goals at will! Andy picked up the ball just a minute after Rorys goal and let fly with a low shot that beat Daz to make it 3-3, before Graham then went straight up the other end and put the Misfits back in control with a powerful finish, however just two minutes after that Special Kebab hit back again! Their fourth goal came from the leagues leading scorer Ben who benefited from some good work from Rory on the right as he tucked away his 21st goal of the season to make it 4-4 in what was turning out to be an amazing encounter between two determined teams! Luke and Jake both forced Dan into two crucial saves and Ben (Keb) and Camm were also denied at the other end by Daz as both teams went in hunt of a winning goal. Special Kebab then went desperately close to going ahead again when Wilks provided the ammunition for Rory, but his attempt went just a fraction wide of the Misfits post. It was agonisingly close. The Misfits then drove forward again themselves through Jake who powered through on the right and showed good composure to lift the ball over the advancing Kebab keeper to make it 5-4 and settle this pulsating top of the table battle! Graham then went through at the death (one on one with Dan), but was denied by the Kebab keeper, however it mattered little as the final whistle sounded to signal a huge win for his team. The Misfits now move into second, a point behind Special Kebab (with just 2 games remaining). They face third placed Blackpool Casuals next in another title battle, whereas Kebab face a tricky test against Thundercats next.
