Match Report - Monday Night League Seaside Misfits 7 - 3 Blackpool Casuals for all other reports go to super6s.co.uk Its just one defeat in twelve games for title chasing SEASIDE MISFITS after they blew away title rivals BLACKPOOL CASUALS 7-3. It now means that the Casuals hopes of winning honours this season is now over and that the title race is now between just two teams (leaders Kebab and Misfits). This result also means that the Misfits have guaranteed themselves at least £100 (should things not go their way on the final week and they finish runners up), however they will be intent on winning their final game and picking up £150 for becoming champs! (if Kebab slip up in their game). Just one goal separated the teams (in Misfits favour) at half time before the second half provided an avalanche of goals and scoring opportunities! Misfits leading scorer Luke almost broke the deadlock with a cheeky flick in the first few seconds when man of the match Graham (Mis) set him up, before Graham then got proceedings under way when he was alert enough to pounce on the ball first (when it hit one of the Casuals defenders) and steer it past Casuals keeper Harrison with a left footed shot. Casuals captain James was then unfortunate to see his deflected effort loop over Misfits keeper/captain Daz and hit the post before Graham (who was immense) cut in from the right and tested Harrison with a shot that the Casuals keeper dealt with comfortably! The Misfits offered a debut to Jordan who nearly endeared himself instantly to the Misfits faithful with a goal, but Harrison denied him with a good save to his left, however the rebound fell kindly to Luke who hit his follow up shot goal bound only to see the agile Casuals keeper get down to his right to pull off a fantastic double save! Guba (who had a good game for the Casuals) then broke up play in his own half and released Ell (Cas), who in turn set up James with a lovely pass, but he fired wide of Dazs goal, before Guba then cut in from the right and unleashed a decent attempt that Daz had to deal with. Peel (Cas) also brought out a good save from Daz with a shot from distance as the Casuals search for an equaliser intensified, before Luke and Jordan both went close at the other end just before the break. Goals are generally on the agenda in games that the Casuals play in and within the first minute of the re-start Jordan let fly with a debut strike that put Seaside Misfits 2-0 up and sparked a second half goal frenzy! The Casuals knew victory was imperative in this top of the table clash and hit back just four minutes later through Jacks (Cas) crisp left footed, low shot that found the bottom corner. The Casuals have been without doubt this seasons comeback kings, however their task became unenviable when Luke struck twice in two minutes to give the Misfits a three goal cushion! His first goal (Misfits third) was well taken. He ran at his marker and shifted the ball onto his right foot before ruthlessly dispatching it past Harrison, before he then side footed his team into a commanding 4-1 lead courtesy of a set up from Graham. With just over ten minutes remaining the Casuals hit back. They went close through Ell who rattled the crossbar with a good attempt, before Peel reduced the deficit six minutes from time with a good strike! Was the comeback on again!!?? Ell was the denied by Daz before Craig (Mis) popped up at the back post to meet Grahams pass and make it 5-2, however the Casuals refused to go away and clawed another goal back through James who tucked away his 18th goal of the season to make it 5-3 with three minutes still left on the clock, but with just a minute left to play Craig struck again to end any hopes of a late fightback from the boys in orange. He got on the end of Bens assist to make it 6-3 before Luke completed his hat-trick at the death, increasing the lead to 7-3 with his 19th goal of the campaign. The season is now over for the Casuals (with regards to winning honours), however the Misfits have taken the title race to the last week (next week). In order to be crowned champions they need to beat Kyles Elite 6 and hope that leaders Special Kebab slip up against Shetland F.C. The Casuals finish their season against Olympatron F.C.
