Match Report 5/7/14 SUMNER KINGFISH 2 SUMNER ROCKS 13 It was a case of the masters versus the apprentices when the Kingfish came up against the other Sumner team in Div 1. The Rocks were too big, too fast and showed why they are the benchmark when it comes to Under 6 rugby in Christchurch. They were relentless as they went about their business against the less experienced Kingfish. However the scoreline didnt reflect how well the Kingfish played. They showed a ton of heart and threw everything at their vaunted opponents right up until the final whistle. While scoring opportunities were few for the Kingfish, when they did manage to get the ball over the line the tries were the result of sustained pressure and excellent teamwork (however may have been a little controversial). Im sure the Kingfish learned plenty from this experience and the chance to measure themselves against the best.
