Match Report Pennine B vs. Pennine A 17-31 This was overall a good match against the A’s played in a competitive but friendly spirit. The whole team played well for the majority of the match and we were able to match up to the A’s in most areas of the court, where the A’s did show their superiority was in the shooting circle as Amy and Jo showed an accuracy we were unable to compete with. Having not played for two weeks neither team made the best start to the match and possession switched between teams during the first quarter as we both made lots of mistakes and unforced errors. The A’s took a lead of 7-3 into the second quarter and started to dominate the game from this point. Despite some great defensive work from Georgie, Jo and Laura, who did create a lot of turnovers in this game, we weren’t always able to capitalise on our possession in attack and the A’s won the quarter 11-5 and lead 8-18 at half time. In an attempt to gain some height in both circles Bex came on at GK and Jess and Abi swapped to GA and C respectively in the third quarter. Bex continued where Georgie had left off, making some great interceptions in defence and helped by Jo and Laura brought the ball through court well. We were however still struggling to get the ball through in attack. It was increasingly difficult to play around the height of Becs and Elisha in the circle and we missed Jess’ speed through the centre court. This being the case Abi and Jess swapped bibs again for the final quarter and the whole team finished the match really well only losing the quarter 6-7. This was a good team performance, with the defence playing especially strongly and matching up well against the A’s. We had a good amount of possession in this game and made some lovely moves through court, we just need to work on our accuracy in the shooting circle so we can achieve a score line more reflective of our abilities.
