#Match6- Sheffield vs UCLan 2s This week saw us face the table topping UCLan 2s. This tough fixture led to Josh Dye optimistically stating Id be happy with a 4-2 loss. With this motivational endorsement ringing fresh in our ears (alongside Drakes Fear in mine after a car journey with Totts!), we unloaded our bags from Dyes Ferrari and Totts barely 1.2 Fiesta. The first group out were our young lovers, Charles Totts and Josh Dye. Ooops, I meant to say Matt Plenty and Hannah Holden. Hannah, after a shaky opening tee-shot, did her usual thing...winning. A comfortable 2 up victory following her toilet trip in the trees half way down the 18th. What better way to make sure of the win than having a piss whilst your playing partner hits their shot? Matt, meanwhile, drew the short straw and had to play Cosmos Woods. Cosmos golf game is the very definition of the term paralysis by analysis, with Matt having to withstand a a bloke talking to himself for 4 hours. Unfortunately, Matt lost his match on the 18th. A fair effort considering most would have handed his opponent the game after 4 holes to avoid the inevitable anguish. Our second group out were Totts and Dye. After last weeks loss, Totts was looking to balance the books with a win. A crushing drive down the first set the tone for his day, and he went on to win emphatically 5&4. I can only see Beardmore being responsible for Totts resurgence in form, keeping him waiting 20 minutes for his shower in the morning, as he engaged the bathroom. Cheers, Dan, on behalf of the Golf Club, for your huge dump on the morning of Wednesday 3rd December (your gift is in the post). Meanwhile, Josh got off to a solid start; slicing his drive over onto the 18th fairway. However, he was excited by his 21st birthday, the Law Ball and the prospect of dancing with some girls the next day, so that tee shot can be explained. This drive, though, didnt set the tone for his round of golf has he also went on to win easily 5&3. Finally, following up the rear, was myself and Monty Williamson a.k.a the Dream Team. Following last weeks great result, Monty was on fine form. He was playing a rock solid scratch handicapper and was 2 up through 8. However, after some gallery disturbance (a council worker shouting FORE from the roadside) and some poor understanding of the R&As Rules of the Game demonstrated by his opponent, he went on to lose 3&2. This scoreline was an unfair reflection on what otherwise was a close game. Onto myself. After my confidence boosting loss the week before, I felt ready to help Dye meet his 2-4 prediction. It was a tightly contested affair, with me battling and winning holes to the very end. I eventually did succumb and lost the match on the 14th (5&4), halving the hole with a double bogey. Again, as with Montys match, the scoreline was unfair... and Im writing this from an unbiased viewpoint. A valiant effort. In spite of the team carrying a 9 handicap, we still managed to draw 3-3 and surpass even Dyes expectations. With the draw in the bag, we headed to McDonalds full of happiness. This happiness was short-lived in Montys case however, as he somehow managed to part with £9 ordering a Deluxe Festive Special. If there is one thing you take from this piece, may it be that a Deluxe Festive Special does not offer your average consumer value for money. With this, may our team continue our success next year! #BlackandGold
