Mathematics Festival The annual Maths festival (Olympiad) was celebrated on 10th October for the class twelve; the program was more of a revision for their upcoming board exams. The program started at 8:00am with inter-class quiz competition. The quiz involved a lot of group discussions while they tried solving the questions that were displayed through the projector. The quiz was over by 12:30pm with Science ‘B’ leading. The next event was the HIGHWAY game in which problem solving was the main theme. The students rushed in groups, moving from class to class, trying to look for more questions to be solved. “It is one of the most interesting games besides being a bit chaotic. Students get to learn about interaction and group achievement. Learning math become more fun”, Ms.Tshering Denkar commented. In the evening there was a fashion show, which was entirely connected to Mathematics. There were dances and songs as an alternative to learning Maths. The students displayed their enthusiasm through decoration, costumes (formula dresses) and body lead gestures. The principal highly appreciated the students and their love for the subject and commented “it is a display of what the students have been taught. Maths can be learnt through dances too.” By: Sangay Namgay & Endup Lepcha. 11/Arts/A
