Matt. 25:29-30, For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Contrary to many individual belief systems, Jesus did not come preaching the formula for a Utopian society, He came preaching the Kingdom of God. I have not found one mention in Scripture of fairness as a standard for interpersonal dealings except between master and slave. Matt. 25:29-30 profoundly pranks with those who preach a social justice Jesus. Neither God or Jesus are into redistribution of resources based on our comfort or ideas of fair. Taking away from the have-nots and giving to the haves based on faithfulness is not stingy, mean-spirited, or good ol boy. It is Kingdom. The best thing we can do for ourselves is deal with it. The funny thing about a Kingdom--it has a King! Whether the king is fair or not has little to do with anything. If the king is JUST, then the people rejoice. Humans tend to determine fairness based on the impact of circumstances on their perceived wants and needs (mostly wants). So, advantaged treatment is either fair or unfair according to whats in it for me. Justice, on the other hand, is based on the precept/system of You reap what you sow (YRWYS). No sow-y, no reap-y. The cool thing about the YRWYS system is that your welfare (I use that word carefully!) is in your own hands. [BTW, now that I look at the YRWYS shortcut, it could easily stand for Your Ways! COOL!] It is one of the few things that truly is under your control There are a few exceptions, of course--but probably not YOU.
