Matt Bomer TV drama White Collar to get abbreviated sixth season sendoff Openly gay leading man juggling series with feature film roles 21 March 2014 | By Greg Hernandez Photo: USA Network Matt Bomer will have a chance to bid his television alter ego Neal Caffrey goodbye in a shortened sixth season of the USA Network drama White Collar. The final season of the show will consist of six episodes. The action will pick up from the season 5 cliffhanger that saw Bomers con man turned FBI informant character abducted, according to Deadline. There were negotiations between doing a full season of shows and a special miniseries sendoff so the six episodes appear to be a compromise. Although White Collars ratings were still solid and Bomer one of the networks biggest stars, the show was increasingly expensive to produce with its extensive location shoots in New York City. Bomer, previously best known for his role on the daytime soap Guiding Light, became a breakout star when the show premiered in 2009. In 2012, he came out publicly as a gay man who shares his life with public relations executive Simon Halls and their three children. Bomer has a lead role in the upcoming HBO film The Normal Heart and in the feature films Space Station 76 and Winters Tale. He also co-starred in the 2012 box office hit Magic Mike.
