Matt Bomer to play very warped role on American Horror Story: Freak Show In demand actor will squeeze in guest spot with filming of Magic Mike 2 25 AUGUST 2014 | BY GREG HERNANDEZ Matt Bomer, up for an Emmy tonight for his performance in The Normal Heart, has landed a role on the new season of FXs American Horror Story which is titled Freak Show. Creator Ryan Murphy, who directed Bomer in The Normal Heart, had been keen to have the red-hot actor appear in the series now that Bomer has completed his final season of White Collar. I try to get him to do everything for me, Murphy tells Entertainment Weekly. I sent him a text that said, ‘First right of refusal, here’s the role.’ Murphy, also the creator of Glee, has not revealed details of the role except to say: It’s very…warped. Bomer is expected to appear in at least one episode in season four of the series which premiere on 8 October. Bomer is also reprising his role of a male stripper in Magic Mike 2 and Murphy said the American Horror Story filming will have to be worked around that project which is a sequel to the 2012 box office hit Magic Mike. The American Horror Story franchise has drawn a stream -of A-list talent including Oscar winners Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates, Emmy nominee Sarah Paulson, Oscar nominees Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe, Frances Conroy Zachary Quinto and Denis OHare, among others.
