Matt Daniels, a New York City resident who describes himself as a data scientist and digital analyst, has created a series of charts that examine the number of unique words used for various rappers. Daniels has titled his project “The Largest Vocabulary In Hip Hop” and created his various charts using lyrics provided by the lyric-based website, Rap Genius. Daniels pulled out the number of unique words from the first 35,000 lyrics of 85 artists -- unfortunately excluding artists like Kendrick Lamar and Biggie, as they just dont have enough content -- and using Shakespeare as a benchmark under the same condition. The clear champion is Aesop Rock, coming in with 7,392 words, easily beating Shakespeares 5,170 words, as well as Herman Melvilles 6,022 words in Moby Dick.
