Service Man Category : Defence Education Criteria : Madhyamik Short Description : Border Security Force is going to recruit 249 persons for the posts of ‘Head Constable (Workshop)’, ‘Head Constable (Engine Driver)’, ‘Head Constable (Master)’, ‘Constable (Crew)’, ‘Sub-Inspector (Engine Driver)’ and ‘Sub-Inspector (Master)’. Detail Description : Post : Head Constable (Engine Driver). Candidates, who have passed Matriculation (Class X) or its equivalent examination of any recognised Board are eligible for the post provided they should possess 2nd Class Engine Driver Certificate. Scale of Pay is Rs.5,200/- – 20,200/- with Grade Pay of Rs.2,400/-. Number of vacancy is 64 (Gen : 25, OBC : 25, SC : 07, ST : 07). Post : Head Constable (Master). Candidates, who have passed Matriculation (Class X) or its equivalent examination of any recognised Board are eligible for the post provided they should possess Serang Certificate. Scale of Pay is Rs.5,200/- – 20,200/- with Grade Pay of Rs.2,400/-. Number of vacancy is 64 (Gen : 29, OBC : 19, SC : 09, ST : 07). Post : Constable (Crew). Candidates, who have passed Matriculation (Class X) or its equivalent examination of any recognised Board are eligible for the post provided they should have experience of at least 1 year as a ‘Sukhani’ / ‘Greaser’ in Operating of Board below 265 HP. In addition to this, candidates should have proficiency in swimming & possess a Swimming Certificate from any recognised Institute / Swimming pool. Scale of Pay is Rs.5,200/- – 20,200/- with Grade Pay of Rs.2,000/-. Number of vacancy is 80 (Gen : 35, OBC : 24, SC : 09, ST : 12). Post : Sub-Inspector (Engine Driver). Candidates, who have passed H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent examination of any recognised Board / University are eligible for the post provided they should possess 1st Class Engine Driver Certificate issued by the Central / State Inland Water Transport Authority /Mercantile Marine Department. Scale of Pay is Rs.9,300/- – 34,800/- with Grade Pay of Rs.4,200/-. Number of vacancy is 13 (Gen : 08, OBC : 03, SC : 01, ST : 01). Post : Sub-Inspector (Master). Candidates, who have passed H.S. (10+2) or its equivalent examination of any recognised Board / University are eligible for the post provided they should possess 2nd Class Engine Driver Certificate issued by the Central / State Inland Water Transport Authority /Mercantile Marine Department. Scale of Pay is Rs.9,300/- – 34,800/- with Grade Pay of Rs.4,200/-. Number of vacancy is 13 (Gen : 09, OBC : 03, SC : 01). Post : Head Constable (Workshop). Candidates, who have passed Diploma Course in Motor Mechanic (Diesel / Petrol Engine) / Machinist / Welder / Carpentry / Electrician / Fitter / Air Conditioner Technician / Electronics / Plumbing / Upholstering / Painting Trade from any recognised ITI after passing Matriculation (Class X) or its equivalent examination of any recognised Board are eligible for the post. Scale of Pay is Rs.5,200/- – 20,200/- with Grade Pay of Rs.2,400/-. Tradewise vacancy is as follows : (i) Motor Mechanic (Diesel / Petrol Engine) : 03 (Gen : 02, SC : 01), (ii) Machinist : 01 (SC), (iii) Carpenter : 05 (Gen : 04, SC : 01), (iv) Electrician : 01 (Gen), (v) Air Conditioner Technician : 04 (Gen : 03, OBC : 01), (vi) Upholster : 01 (Gen). For all posts : For the posts of ‘Sub-Inspector (Master)’ and ‘Sub-Inspector (Engine Driver)’, age should have to be between 22 and 28 years as on 01.09.2013. But for ‘Other’ posts, age should have to be between 20 and 25 years as on 01.09.2013. Candidates belonging to OBC & SC / ST will get relaxation in age by 3 years & 5 years respectively. Ex-Servicemen will get exemption in age as per the Govt. Rules. The height of the candidate should have to be at least 165 cms (162.5 cms for Gorkhas & the candidates of Sikkim & North Eastern States; 160 cms for ST / Adivasis) and the chest should have to be at least 80 cms (78 cms for Adivasis) with expiration capacity of at least 5 cms. The weight should have to be corresponding to the height. Distant vision should have to be 6/6 & 6/9 in both eyes without wearing glasses. Candidate should not have knock-knee, flat foot or squint in eyes, colour blindness or any other Physical defect / deformity, which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties. Mode of Selection : Selection will be conducted in 2 phases. Phase-I will consist of Written Examination & Phase-II will consist of (i) Documents Verification, (ii) Physical Measurement Test, (iii) Physical Efficiency Test, (iv) Trade Test, (v) Interview & (vi) Medical Examination. The Written examination of 2 hours duration will consist of Multiple Choice Objective Type questions on respective discipline. The merit list of the successful candidates of the Written Test will be available on the website mentioned below. Qualified candidates in the Written Examination will be called for Phase-II Test, to be held at Silchar, Madhopur, Bhuj, Hasnabad & Dhubri. In Phase-II Test, candidates will be primarily shortlisted on the basis of Physical Standard Test (PST). Shortlisted candidates in PST will be called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which will consist of the following events : (i) 1 mile race to be completed within 8 minutes, (ii) 11 Feet Long Jump in 3 chances, (iii) 3 feet 6 inches High Jump in 3 chances. Ex-Servicemen will be exempted from appearing in Physical Efficiency Test. Qualified candidates in PET will be called for Trade Test, which is qualifying in nature. Qualified candidates in Trade Test will be put through Interview of 50 marks. Selected candidates will have to undergo Medical Examination. The date, time & venue of Tests & Interview will be intimated in due course.
