Matthew 15:27......And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters table. The woman acknowledged her position as undeserving and without legal covenant rights to the childrens bread...... yet she used the Lords own words concerning dogs as grounds for a further plea for healing...... Even dogs (she plead) have some rights......dogs have the rights to the crumbs that the master throws away and would give to them........if the Children have enough bread to spare.......she claimed the scraps for her daughter.......and won her case! Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Mark tells us.....And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed. We dont know how long Jesus was in Phoenicia......but Mark 7:31 tells us........And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis. Jesus didnt return to Capernaum....but He swung south of Capernaum.....back into the region of Gadara (where He cast out the legion of demons from the maniac in the tombs)....... And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; And looking up to heaven, he sighed,...... Why would Mark include that Jesus sighed?......Could it be....at this point in Jesus ministry....that He expected people to come to Him to hear His words concerning the kingdom of God....to hear His words about spiritual things......But instead.....people were mostly coming to Him for their physical needs....for fixes....for healings that would get them through (this life) on earth in a more comfortable manner...... instead of opening their eyes and opening their ears (to hear His message) that would prepare them for eternal life (to come)...... Verse 34 continues..... and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak. Matthew tells us (in Matthew 15:29)......And Jesus departed from thence, (after He left Phoenicia and His encounter with the woman) and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. (in the region of Decapolis according to Mark) Jesus was again outside the (Jewish) religious leaders jurisdiction (or sphere of influence).....and again He resorted unto a (secluded) mountain.... Verse 30.......And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
