Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? While it has always been common (for me) to have always had this verse associated with material wealth, I see it with a new perspective now. I guess it was from listening to others expound on it that I came to relate it to money/material. Yet when I get the feeling that Im being asked to compromise the Word so that others are made to feel comfortable, I immediately remember this verse. Exactly what does it profit me if I seek (and attain) the approval of all the men in the world.. and lose my soul because I forsook my calling in the process? I mean, I can be a very popular person, loved by everyone.. at the expense of my own soul! How silly!! Stop asking me to tickle peoples ears. That is unless you can put me in heaven for it!
