Matthew 3:16-17 “The Ultimate Affirmation” Almighty God - TopicsExpress

Matthew 3:16-17 “The Ultimate Affirmation” Almighty God physically transcended the barrier between heaven and earth to “touch” Jesus and proclaim to all the earth “This is my beloved (I love him) Son, in whom I am well (completely) pleased.” Jesus had just been baptized, not because He needed baptism, but to show us it what He want of us. Baptism symbolizes the death and resurrection, dying from our old self and reborn by the Spirit into our new self. He was just at the very beginning of His ministry and God chose this opportunity to “brag” on Jesus. He proclaimed His love and His pride to everyone “in front of” Jesus and this is such an important lesson for us. It’s not enough to brag on your children (or your spouse) to others or even to tell your children in private that you love them and are proud of them. But it takes on special meaning and becomes real to them when they hear you proclaim your love and pride to others. And this should not be reserved for times when they have just complete some special achievement, remember Jesus had not even started His “work” on earth, our love and pride should be proclaimed just because of who they are. We hear a lot that we are not promised tomorrow. Believe me that you don’t want to lose a loved one and live with the regret that you did not let them know how much you loved them and how proud you were of them. Take the very next opportunity do this and do not put it off because you have no excuse. Love you guys.
