Matthew 5:7—“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” What does it mean to be MERCIFUL or to show MERCY to someone? When God uses the word MERCY, it means He is forgiving us for something that we did. He was MERCIFUL to us and sent Jesus to die on the cross for us. How can we in turn show mercy to others? Psalm 41:1—“Blessed is he that considereth the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.” We can look around us and see people in need all the time. We can do something to help them. Even a smile is something. We can always do something to help in any situation. Matthew 5:8—“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Psalm 15:2—“He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.” Being pure in heart means to have a Godly attitude at all times. A good attitude, a joyful heart, resting in God’s care, trusting God to work in your life. Being merciful and being pure in heart go together. Let’s look at our day today and see how we can portray Christ in our life.
