Matthew Vella writes: Readers of MaltaToday may have read an article of mine claiming non-refoulement had been erased from the Refugees Act. I was wrong - I misread the fact that it was a piece of subsidiary legislation being amended (i.e. procedures on examining asylum claims). Non-refoulement is untouched. Here is the updated article with a headline that captures the spirit of apology that readers - first and foremost every time I write something - deserve. maltatoday.mt/news/national/39118/legal_notice_removes_nonrefoulement_from_refugees_act Also - back in 2008 I had written about the legal notice that the govt enacted to give asylum seekers just 15 days to submit an asylum claim. This new LN actually removes this silly condition. Thank you to those readers who pointed out my error. Its good to have the internet make us realise these things immediately.
