Matthew and I had a Krogers outing. Its an ordinary task for most. Not for Matthew. We went today Took him Saturday high noon. The place was packed. Matthew was very uneasy. Began feeling jittery. Unsafe. Then a elderly (more elderly than I) woman rolled her cart up to him and exclaimed: I LOVE your beard ! Its beautiful! Matthew lit up and they chatted a few moments. The lady went on her way. Matthew scooted out of krogers. I saw the woman a moment later: me: thank you for speaking to my son and being so kind. You didnt know this but he has mental health issues and crowds are hard for him.....woman: are you his mom? Well, he is a lovely person bc he has a lovely mom. Small moments like this are really big moments for us both, and I end up suddenly in tears. You never know the burden someone carries. Be kind. Be kinder than the situation calls for. Thank you kind Angel.
