Mattie has bee in my foster since the first part of June! she is the poodle that had given up on life and was in the middle of a White Oak when a kind couple found her. She had so many flea bites her skin looks as if she had mange. Her fur was so full of matts that she was named Mattie. She was checked out by a vet in Lindale and given shots and tested for heart worm. Amazingly she is negative. Two weeks aog she was taken to Spencer Vet Services, she was spayed and her teeth were cleaned. Her ears were deeply infected and treatment was done on them. I was in hopes that as her infection cleared up, that perhaps her hearing would come back. So far she still has no hearing. Mattie can now eat and keep food down, she has found her appetite and much prefers dry dog food to the chicken and rice diet I cooked for her. She is slowly gaining weight and muscle tone. Matties main form of exercise is following me around the house to lay at my feet, She now enjoys petting! She was for some time in much pain and it was not comfortable for her to be pet. I have bathed her a few times and she looks a little better after each bath. Mattie is starting to enjoy the company of my other dogs. It will be some time until she is ready for that special home that can give her the life she needs and deserves. She is puppy pad trained and will potty outside when taken out. She is a little frightened outside by herself. She looks and acts older than the 7 ish years the two separate vets think she is. Mattie now likes to set on my lap as I watch TV. She has a ways to go to regain her health and spirit, I am beginning to slowly see both come back to life. If you feel you can provide the perfect home for Mattie, call me, 903 918 3213. She may be an old lump of coal today, but I know she was and will again be a diamond! Ione
