Maulana Hasrat Mohani, a multi- faceted personality was a religious scholar, poet, critic, a legislator and a freedom fighter. As a member of Constituent Assembly he never drew any allowance from the government never used government accommodation and travelled to Parliament House in a shared tonga. During the session he stayed in a mosque. He used to travel in third class and when somebody asked why he travels in third class he quipped Because there is no fourth class. Where have these people gone? You have a legislator in Maharashtra who wore a golden shirt on his birthday costing 4.5 crores!!
