Mauritania is a vast country of about three million inhabitants; most of them live under the line of poverty despite the numerous and various natural resources of their vast land. The country’s wealth has always been a property for the ruling regimes and their entourage. The average of illiteracy is sky-high as the costs of living. The majority of Mauritanians in the two main big towns, Nouakchott and Nouadhibou, had come from rural areas. Their livestock has vanished after the drought of 1970s and 1980s. To what extent can such society deal with the mass media and preserve its ethical, traditional and historical values in the shade of GLOBALIZATION? What kind of impact does the mass media have on Mauritanians?
