Mauros update (Day+271) - Happy to say Ive just got Mauro home 😄👍🎉 They found that he has Coronavirus, and that he has to be in isolation at home. Its too risky leaving him in hospital with his weakened immune system, and also too great a risk for the other patients in the ward (even though they had him in an isolation room). He is still being treated for Pneumonia and Aspergillus in his lungs as well. So its back to wearing surgical masks at home, including myself and the girls 😷😷😷 We also cannot touch him. The Docs also believe he has had serious side effects to the main fungal medication for the Aspergillus in his lungs (hence the swollen face/eyes...which is now slowly coming down. Poor guy looked like he went 10 rounds in the boxing ring last Friday!!) so he has been changed over to a sister drug that will supposedly have less side effects. During the transition they will also administer the Amberzone drug via drip (runs over 2.5hrs), so it means being back at Alfred tomoz, Friday and Tuesday at the HOC ward. Mauro still takes a lot of other medication every day, but the new fungal meds (including the drip one) cost $1000 a pop...so the meds we bought home again today that will last till Tuesday are approx $10,000 in cost!! The cost to us direct was only $12!! I tell you....we are sooooo very lucky in this country of ours!!! Well...heres to keeping Rocky out of the hospital again...and him kicking these infections butts! And boy...I cant wait to celebrate a life away from the Alfred (even though they are so, so amazing!) thats for sure lol!!!
