Maximum Ebola Threat in Koinadugu By Abdul Fonti The only district in Sierra Leone that is yet to record a confirmed case of the deadly ebola virus (Koinadugu District) is now under serious infection threat with the district’s proactive ebola task force raising the emergency threat indicator to level three – the highest. As if to sabotage and frustrate the efforts of the Koinadugu District Ebola Task Force led by philanthropist and information technology guru Momoh Konte, sick people are being smuggled into the district with the most recent being a sick man from Port Loko District. Like the Public Relations Officer of the district’s ebola task force was intercepted with a patient from Makeni and quarantined, the patient from Port Loko who was smuggled into Koinadugu by his wife was also traced, located and disciplined. The patient was tracked by youths past Saturday and immediately deported from the district, and the house where he was located quarantined. Those the patient came in contact with in the district are also being located and quarantined. “Judging by the timing vis-à-vis time of arrival, intelligence and action, I don’t think the disease will grip the district,” the Ebola Taskforce Chief Adviser Momoh Konte said in a brief chat. “We have however activated the Incidence Monitoring Group and suspended okada and vehicular services in and out of Kabala,” Konte stated, adding that inter village and town travels in the district have also been banned for twenty one days.
