Maximus had a surgery yesterday to remove his bladder stones. Poor - TopicsExpress

Maximus had a surgery yesterday to remove his bladder stones. Poor guy had trouble peeing for a few days then I saw blood in the urine on Saturday evening and took him to the emergency vet right away. They did a catheter flush (i think thats what its called) to push the stones back to the bladder and he stayed there overnight. First pic was taken before I took him to the emergency vet hospital, poor guy must be in so much pain but didnt know what to do. Second pic was after I picked him up from the emergency hospital on Sunday night. Poor guy is catching up with his sleep, he didnt sleep all day saturday, he was so uncomfortable. Took him to his vet Monday morning and they did the surgery the same day and he was discharged today. He was so happy and excited to see us, with tail wagging hundred miles an hour, as if nothing happened to him. Third picture was taken shortly after we got home. Hes a bit frustrated coz he cant lick his incision. The vet showed me the amount of stones they got from his bladder, it filled the average size prescription vial and there was a stone as big as a marble. I couldnt believe what I saw. That much stones in his tiny bladder!!! Theyd send the stones for analysis but the vet thinks its oxalate. For now, they prescribed Royal Canin Urinary S/O until they get the results back from the lab but most likely thats what hell have for the rest of his life. Strict diet with no people food....poor boy is gonna miss his popcorn. Max is turning 6 this coming April.
