May 14,1967 was also Mothers Day, and I was 5 yrs old....My daddy died that day at age 29, from Glomerulonephritis, a kidney disease before they had transplants and Dialysis so readily available, and went to Heaven...Clifton Lee Skelton....My kids never got to know him or his love or the love of music that he had, altho I inherited that from him ;) ...He played and sang Bluegrass/Gospel and was in a band with a lot of Fellers..lol he could play a mandolin, banjo, guitar, and i even think a steel Guitar...maybe a harmonica but not quite sure about that one...and he sang...on Stage...at the Grand Ole.....AIRPORT in Tusc haha..on Friday and/or Saturday nights..I used to go there and sang on stage before once when i was very small....I got to meet the Osmond Brothers and thought i was SO COOL.....but only come to find out it was the OSBORN Brothers....haha....what a letdown THAT was! But got to know and love Good Ole Country Bluegrass and Gospel music that still Soothes my Soul when nothing else can! So sad my kids never got to know him!! I was the only kid in my first grade class that got a NEW dad when mama married my second dad, Ben Clary....now lotsa kids get 2nd dads but I was a lil different back then....and almost a one of a kind thing...anyways...just remembering my daddy who left so many many years ago to see Jesus...and missing and loving him all the same as i did 47 years ago...with all my heart! Love you daddy!! RIP and Singin with the Angels!!
