May 16th, 2014 Mille Lacs Fishing Report We hope everyone got a chance to get out and about this past week. The big pond is still very cold at this time. Look for this weekend and into next week for things to pick up. We have heard mixed reports from people boating 8-12 fish per day to some not even getting a bite. The fish are all healthy. The pike and smallie bite is just starting to take shape, think shallow. You should continue to chase the sand bite on the North end, it should and WILL pick up. Minnows will continue to be the key, especially shinners. The best method we use is a lindy rig and long snell, tipped with a minnow. Bobbers still may produce some action with a leech, especially into next week. Looks towards the rocks at that time. Target 15-20 feet of water, and 5-7 FOW as we get into these beautiful days. Make sure you give Kurt a call at Tutt’s, they have all your bait needs, plus he will point you in a direction that may get you on fish.
