May 20 -- a date to remember in Lowthorp history. 1. May 10, 1914, 8:00 p.m., Devine, Texas (100 years ago), Viola E. Hardcastle (1891-1960) married James W. Jim Lowthorp 1881-1954). My parents. 2. May 10,1915, 8:00 p.m., Ellicott City, Maryland (99 years ago) Viola and Jim welcomed their firstborn, Ophelia Phil Lowthorp Strong (1915-1995) into the world. James Jr. (1916-1932) and Paul G. (1923-2006) were greeted later into the family before the parents reached perfection with my SURPRISE arrival (Marcus M.) in 1932, bringing a glimmer of hope in the midst of the Great Depression. 3. May 20, 2014, Laramie, Wyoming, (This year). One of our grand-daughters, Jessica Maleah Lowthorp, obtains her baccalaureate degree from the University of Wyoming to carry on the May 10 legacy.
