May 26th we had a Birthday Party for Moms 86th Birthday. We took her to her favorite Breakfast Restaurant, Huckleberrys, we BBQd Hamburgers for dinner, and had cake and ice cream. She was so happy to have her kids and Grand Children there with her. She also got to see the Sonogram of her newest Great Grandbaby, my first Grand Child, due in November. Five days later to everyones surprise she entered the hospital and began fighting one infection after another. I have become familiar with every bump, delay, and nuance of Highway 99 in the past three years. She fought valiantly with everything she had but in the end she just couldnt come back. After 40 plus days in the hospital, the doctors said there was nothing more that medicine could do for this sweet Angel. We took her home and since then Hospice, My Sister Gail, my Brother Rick, and my Niece Alicia took amazing care of her. I had the privilege of spending a few days with her last week when she still could communicate and knew that all three of her children were by her side. The Hospice Nurse said she had never seen a family so dedicated to the care and comfort of their parents. That is a testament to our upbringing by two amazing and wonderful people; my Mom and my Dad that taught us that GOD and FAMILY are everything. Last night, The Lord (and Im sure accompanied by my Dad) came and gently took her to heaven where she is now with Jesus and my Dad once again. I know that they are both free of pain, sadness, worry, sorrow, and fatigue. They are now completely healthy, fully in love as always, and happy beyond words. The sadness is for those of us who are left behind. My faith tells me that we will all be together again, but my humanity does and will continue missing them until that day. For those that knew, thank you for your support and prayers. Know that you are loved for them.
