May 29 1977. One of the strangest shows from his last year, Elvis was obviously very sick, and it showed during this concert, with elvis leaving for 20 minutes in the middle of the show, but altough tired, elvis still wanted to please fans. And the setlist was very interesting this night, and the show runs for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, with elvis leaving 20 minutes, that leaves it to an hour, so elvis still sung just as much as any other concert. Elvis starts of with See See Rider and I Got A Woman which was by now a routine, Usually elvis would go into love me.. but not this time!. Elvis starts doing Thats Allright Mama, and Are You Lonesome Tonight (something he would do again in rapid city). then elvis starts doing blue christmas.. In may!. then elvis heads into heartbreak hotel, something he wouldnt do usually this early in a show!. then we get back to the olies, as he heads for love me an you gave me a mountain. then elvis starts asking sherrill nielsen to sing two songs, Danny Boy & Walk with me (one of my favourites). After sherrill is done, he heads into teddy bear/dont be cruel.. and then the unusual thing happens, Elvis leaves the stage!. Leavin charlie hodge to introduce the band. John wilkinson performs early morning rain and sings it!. then the rest happens as usual, drum solo, bass solo, piano solo, After 20 minutes the song School Day plays (often reffered to as hail hail rock and roll) and Elvis returns, the song gets extended, as elvis sings along, and the crowd goes crazy as he returns!. He makes an apology Nature was calling, and you cant fool with nature son!. Now elvis was obviously sick, and he should close the show, but thats not what he was doing, instead elvis performs a strong Hurt, a trowaway hound dog, then does a beautiful Help Me, before heading to the piano, giving an outstanding version of unchained melody (Where did he get the energy from!) Then a crowd-pleaser Blue Suede Shoes a 1 liner of the wonder of you singing When no one else can understand me, when everything i do is wrong, i need your help and understand before stopping the song, But hes still not done! elvis heads into a great version of One Night!. Then lets sherrill do o sole mio, and elvis performs Its now or never. Now its time to close the show!. And altough elvis left for 20 minutes, he made up for it!. For the time elvis was on stage he was in good voice (not the best but good!) Performing a varied setlist (maybe to make up for the lost time). But this is not a disaster show as many would like to prove. Remember.. he is and always was the king!
