May 5th, 2014 – THE ST. LUCIA CALYPSO ASSOCIATION 2009 , HELD ITS FIRST EVER ISLANDWIDE MOTORCADE AS PART OF ITS LAUNCH OF THE CALYPSO SEASON KAISO IN DE ROAD 2014….. The organizers of “Kaiso on de Road” 2014 recorded its most recent success amidst its own budget limitations. The Saint Lucia Calypso Association (2009) in collaboration with Du Boulays Bottling , Peter and Company , GTM Insurance , CHAIRMAN RESERVE , Michels Electrical and Construction, the Voice Publishing , and other members of the corporate community launched the start of the Calypso Season with a first ever island wide motorcade, ‘Kaiso on de Road’. Some have already pledged their support to make this an Annual event. What stole the curiosity of onlookers, was the BIG red CRIX truck in the convoy of vehicles and the attraction of the unique way of focusing on the Calypso product. Cameron Moffat Area Manager of the representative company for CRIX , has already expressed the company’s interest in providing support to the St Lucia Calypso Association(2009), in hosting for the second time, the Most Humorous song for 2014 and support of Best Tent initiative to be hosted by the Association. KAISO ON DE ROAD 2014, was incident free. The event was conducted Sunday 4th May, with the full support of the Police Traffic Department through an outrider for the entire route and the observance and compliance of the NEMO Mass Crowd requirements . This event also drew attention to the role of the Eastern Caribbean Copyright Organization, (ECCO) with whom the St Lucia Calypso Association(2009) has developed an even stronger partnership. Onlookers, in all communities visited, were greeted with local music . The motorcade, started in Gros Islet in the North and traversed along the West Coast. While passing along the West Coast, a stop was made in reverence to the site where Jany Williams former Monarch 2004,who lost her life ten years ago in a car crash - This was an emotional moment for her mother ( Janitia Blasse Warner ) who was on the motorcade in the South Calypso Tent. David Jordan Chairman of the St Lucia Calypso Association(2009) , says the organizers felt the pulse of the grassroots in the various communities , as Kaiso on Road moved through the communities from the North, West, South and East. The motorcade achieved one of its goals in the stimulation of the level of awareness, leading to the first Tent which will be launched May 24th 2014. The Management of the Saint Lucia Calypso Association (2009) wishes to thank all who participated in the efforts of Kaiso on de Road 2014 , from the Traffic Department , Yorke Security, Windjammer Landing and Resort, Michels Electrical, GTM , and CRIX in enabling a successful innovative launch as the Association continues to build corporate linkages and to foster greater confidence amongst its affiliates and members for 2014.
