May 9, 2014 Dear Parents and Friends, Congratulations and Mahalo to our tremendous St. Catherine Parish and School family for making our carnival a record breaking success! We are still counting beans, but as soon as we have all scrip presale funds collected and expenses accounted for, I will announce the net income. Mechanical rides and the Hawaiian food booth were both strong attractions. I am deeply grateful for the commitment and dedication shown by our parents and supporters! Our Carnival Scrip Sales Contest winners were announced Thursday morning. The iPod Nano winners are Anucha Kawamura and Pohaku Ahnee Lagmay, and the iPad Air winners are Tory Refamonte and Aedyn Umalla. In addition, the kindergarten and fourth grade classes will enjoy a bowling party next Tuesday at Lihue Lanes for selling the most scrip per student. This Saturday evening, following the 5 pm Mass we will bid Fr. Ramel a fond farewell as he prepares to leave for boot camp. Fr. Ramel has been our pastor for the past 6 years, the longest serving priest in recent memory! We wish him well in his next phase of life and ask God’s blessings as he ministers to our brothers and sisters in the military. Join us in Coyle Hall at 6 pm for a pot luck dinner. We are moving ahead with plans to relocate the library and computer lab and renovate the space to house two kindergarten classes. This frees up space for the planned expansion of our preschool. Mr. Marc Ventura has been a hero in leading the project! Two weeks from tonight we will enjoy our own “Academy Awards Gala” presented by Mrs. Corbo and the students of St. Catherine School. It promises to be an event to remember!
