Maybe its because Ive just had a birthday or maybe its a natural progression in life but my thoughts have turned to what kind of legacy we leave when we die. Theres no escaping it the death rate is one out of one... If I look at any actuarial table I find that I now have more of my life behind me than I can expect to have ahead of me. So what will my legacy be when Im gone. Will it be that I helped families with their finances or now helped students and families through the process of college? No thats what I do but its not who I am. We are so much more than what we do... we are made in the image of God and are created to live a life that glorifies and honors Him forever! Doesnt that inspire you? We are made in the very image of God. Not just to “live our best life now” but to build up Gods kingdom for all of eternity. The world tells us to “be all we can be” and “do all we can do” with this life. But the Bible puts the lie to that kind of logic. This cant possibly be our best life. If it is then heaven is a lie and Christianity is nothing more than a feel good philosophy to life. No, for the Christian life with Christ must be better than life here on earth. Philippians 3:20 tells us we are aliens in this world because our citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. That is the true meaning of hope. We live in troubling times but God is in control. If he ceased to work this world would be in absolute chaos. Yet, our greatest need isnt physical healing its spiritual healing. How does the average person continue on when they truly believe that the evil and wickedness of this world wont eventually be made right? The Bible gives us the assurance that in Christ there is that hope that all things WILL be made right again. And that is what I hope my legacy will be... that I pointed people to Christ and the hope that lies in Him. Yes, the death rate is 1 out of 1. Theres a 100% participation rule. A new day is dawning and the Messiah is coming. Are you ready to meet him? Jesus said, “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:3) He didnt say for us, he said for YOU! Will you accept his offer? All you have to do is believe. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.
