Maybe its just me but I am wondering what is happening to our society. Once again, I am reading news stories about violence in big box retailers. people getting shot, people getting stabbed and beaten. All this coming the same day as people sit down over a dinner while being thankful for what they already have. Seems odd. I really cant blame retailers because black Friday has been a tradition for many years. I can blame them for their greed in opening on Thanksgiving and forcing employees to work taking them away from their families. Walmart CEO Bill Simon made the comment that they only open when the public wants them to. This is such crap. Walmart will open when they think they can get customers into their stores. Holidays mean nothing to stores like Walmart. However, our society has become so base that a physically violent encounter at Walmart means nothing. Black Friday seems to be the one day of the year when customers should consider wearing a bullet proof vest when shopping. And that I find incredibly sad.
