Maybe people have some ideas for me. I have an 8 month old male English Shepherd. I have to say he is a pretty wonderfully behaved boy. He went through typical puppy things, but nothing horrible. One issue, which I can avoid, but it is difficult to constantly avoid it and Im not sure how to correct him. We have a direct neighbor who is probably in his 50s, but he is slightly mentally disabled and has a very pronounced speech impediment. The man is very friendly, but unfortunately due to his condition, does not know boundaries. My dog is very reactive towards him, especially his voice and will bark at him incessantly, he is so bothered that he completely tunes me out. I am at a loss because Elliot is only 8 months old, and with other people he is amazing and this gentleman cannot help his condition, nor his speech. Elliot gets so riled up. He wont growl, he will just bark spastically which is very unlike him. I avoid the situation as much as possible, but since this man lives next door with his parents, I cant always avoid them. I have no issues with his barking with other people, if he feels like barking, I tell him no and he stops, but i cannot get him to stop around this gentleman. Please be nice and any helpful information is appreciated.
