Maybe some things need to be put in perspective as we are heading to the polls in October 2014. In 2009, BCP agreed to merge with BAM, one of the smallest party in Botswana and they managed to field 42 candidates. After October 2009, the results were as follows, BAM pulled 2 seats and BCP 3 seats if not 4 which is 19.5% voted by 109, 000 at the time when BNF was at war with itself of which BNF managed to pull 119, 000 votes. Now the #READYTOLEAD brigade wants to convince us that by fielding 54 candidates in the upcoming elections, they can pull a miracle to attain 29 seats when they failed to get 10 seats the last time around, BCP will not attain anything outside BNF number for a possible shock to the BDP. Now, when they are supposed to face reality that their Ready to Lead philosophy might prove to be disastrous at the polls, they will have their power hungry Central committee members who wanted to field themselves for the 2014 elections. I mean the party President is going for a constituency with 3 other candidates of which the battle lines will be between Gomolemo Motswaledi and himself. Motsei Rapelana, Anna Motlhagodi are facing very tough opponents and they might get nothing. WIth the prosthetic of the Umbrella, I would have loved to have seen Anna, Raopelana, Saleshando jnr, Motswaledi, Boko, Tawana Moremi, Aarone, Mangole, Mmolotsi, Rammidi, Mathokgwane, in Parliament. Some very capable young stalwarts in Parliament. Now that the limelight has overshadowed the BCP and the BNF is going to the polls at its strongest in 30 years, they still doubt the BNF + BMD marriage. Why should that concern them now? BCP felt that they needed to consult with their members about their decision to stay or quit Umbrella talks and they chose the latter. Now the BCP President is accusing Spencer Mogapi of Sunday Standard of journalistic bias against hius party in favour of UDC. For some of us who know Dumelang Saleshando very well, this time the chickens are coming home to roost. #NobodyForcedBCPintoPoliticalSuicide
