Maybe this wont be the cozy Christmas message that you want, but some of you will appreciate it and it may infuse you with compassion for what others are walking through: Some this holiday season are hearing the news of terminal diagnosis or having divorce papers placed in their hands or needing to place their son or daughter in a facility for the treatment of mental illness. That is the time they discover they get to unwrap the gritty grace that is stored deep inside of all of us when we need it the most. We get to tell ourselves that we will choose HOPE and hang on to it at all cost.
