Mayor Carnovale signing flag Carl Beldin signing Mr Bloom signing A Cameron County soldier returned from Afghanistan carrying a flag from his unit. It sat in the same box for years, until this week. The flag bears the name of three fellow servicemen who died in a mission. The unnamed Cameron County soldier approached businessman Jim Quinn about flying the flag outside of his business in Emporium and inviting veterans to stop and sign their names and branch of service. One by one veterans have been stopping at Jimmers Bargains and using the felt tip marker signed near the names of those who did not return to their hometowns. “The idea came from the soldier and on Saturday July 5 the flag will be returned to him,” explains Quinn. The business is open Tuesday through Saturday on East Fourth in Emporium.
