Mazzas Match Report Old As vs Chesham Sun 8 June 2014 Old As won by 66 runs A very pleasing win on a very hot day. Everything went to plan. We won the toss and elected to field. We said we should get between 150-180. We got 166. And the best thing was that the top 6 all got into double figures. Sarah Baigent 24. Oclevia Poynter 23. Katie Davies 34. Kelsey Toner 15. Lucy Davies 20, and Marilyn Smith 20 not out. Next step girls is to convert the 20s and 30s into 50s. But excellent batting performance, showing the depth of our team. 166 was always going to be a hard task for Chesham, and after Viola and Kelsey kept them to 26 for 2 off their opening 12 overs, it was game over. Viola took 2 for 10 off 6 overs, and Kelsey was 0 for 14 off her 6. Sarah Baigent, Edna Moses, Lucy Davies, Salma Virk and Marilyn Smith all bowled well, but Reshma Garrera tore the heart out of their innings with 4 for 20 off 5 overs. Oclevia Poynter didnt let any byes through as keeper, and took 2 excellent catches behind the stumps. Katie Davies and Viola Lough also chipped in with catches. Carlene Bender was so close to getting onto the scorecard with catches, but the juggling was just too hard. Chesham managed to scramble to 100 runs, but the match was over after the tight opening bowling spell. Well done everyone.
