McMicken Lecture Series at the University of Cincinnati Tony Chemero Departments of Philosophy and Psychology Weds., April 2, 3:30 pm Taft Research Center, Edwards One The Human-Environment System Where does a person end and the world begin? In this talk, Professor Chemero will argue that human minds are not encapsulated by brains, or even by bodies. At least sometimes, that is, humans and portions of their environments together make up unified, autonomous systems. His case for this will be anything but direct. He will discuss robotic artists, Buddhism, cellular automata, the Gaia hypothesis, phenomenological philosopher Martin Heidegger, statistical mechanics, bad 80s cinema, and experiments from his lab.
