Me, Lee (Jasper), Winsome and Jacqui, a Rainbow Push member left in the afternoon and went on a walk around downtown Chicago. The scenery was great, architecture was off the hook, Mayor Daley had built a massive stadium in the park and there was a big gospel festival going on. The park and the stadium were just near the harbour and you could see the sea from the park. In the evening we went to dinner at a real Chicago pizzeria and talked politics. The next day we would be at the Hyatt hotel to continue the conference. The Hyatt was a world away from the inner city Chicago area where the Rainbow Push HQ was located, it was very posh. I arrived at the hotel collected my pass and entered the main banqueting suite to the booming voice of Barack Obama. Obama was with his home town crowd and on fire. He preached his message of change to a chorus of ‘yes, brother’ ‘teach’ and rounded up with an exhilarating finale that send the crowd ballistic. As he stepped down from the platform I sneaked passed the secret service to greet him and shake his hand, I told him why I was there and how I was inspired by what he was doing, he said thank you and I asked if I could get a picture with him he agreed and one of his staff took a picture, but they never took it properly, they tried to take another one but then he was mobbed by adoring fans.
